Read: Down the Rabbit Hole (#12-2022)

Down the Rabbit Hole

Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny by Holly Madison

An inside look into the life of one of Hef's girlfriends. Before she was in the mansion, during and after; Holly's struggle to get away from the public perception, and how that public perception helped her find a life where she could finally figure out who she was meant to be.

Holly makes no excuses for anything that did (or didn't) happen during her time at the Playboy mansion. She actually doesn't even lay any blame on anyone except herself for most of it. It's an interesting story, and it's refreshing to read her fairly objective view looking back on the details of her time as the main girlfriend of Hugh Hefner.

I had watched a scattered few episodes of the Girls Next Door reality show, and I think I may have caught a few episodes of her next show Holly's World but I didn't really know anything about Holly Madison before I read the book. I was still intrigued by her story and read through it quickly despite there not being a lot of the sordid details that you might have expected from a Playboy-related story.

I appreciated the references to Alice in Wonderland at the chapter openings because it really is easy to equate the Playboy mansion with Wonderland, which leaves Holly as Alice. Hef I guess is the Mad-Hatter, which is kind of frightening. But the mind-games that went on in that house would definitely make you think he might have been mad.
