Read: Rescued by the Guarded Tycoon (#04-2022)

Rescued by the Guarded Tycoon by Rosanna Battigelli

Typical Harlequin style romance - woman meets man, both are immediately attracted to each other and fall in love, but have something that is holding them back. Usually past circumstances. They overcome their reluctance, and then there's a misunderstanding after which they are together happily ever after.

*dreamy sigh*

I'm not usually a Harlequin reader. I get my sappy romance through Hallmark movies, which are essentially Harlequins on-screen. Mom has a subscription to Harlequin so she occasionally passes novels my direction when she thinks I might be particularly interested in something about that specific story.

This one is set in Parry Sound, Ontario and so it was a location-specific suggestion.  The story is fairly formulaic, which wasn't surprising, and sometimes it's nice to sit down to a book that you know won't take longer than an hour or two. It's a good way to read, without really engaging the brain.

I'm never really a fan of the writing in these - the characters "speak" oddly, it doesn't seem natural, and often the editing leaves something to be desired. But the stories are quick and easy to follow, and there's always a happy ending, so while it's not literary quality, they're not a waste of time for entertainment.
